Invisalign Invisible Braces

Invisalign Invisible Braces

Have you ever thought about aligning, adjusting or straightening your teeth – invisibly?

Now you can with an orthodontic device which is made from a transparent and elastic plastic material that moves teeth gradually and in stages, through the application of pressure over time.

Invisalign has been a top discreet orthodontic option for the past fifteen years. Today, there are different versions of the product available on the market. The Full version treatment plan is appropriate for most. However there is also a Teen version, which allows for lost or replacement aligners, as well as an Assist and Express version which allow dentists to offer different diagnoses and treatment plans at varied costs.

When the Invisalign product was originally developed at the laboratory of Align Technology, many of the steps in the manufacturing process were preformed manually and tooth images had to be manipulated individually and by hand. Since then the process has come a long way and become streamlined with training, certification and equipment which are all part of the Invisalign system.

Typically, the treatment process begins with X-Rays at the dentist’s office along with tooth and gum impressions and photographs. Next a digital, 3D representation of a patient’s teeth is made from the scanned impressions. A proprietary software program allows technicians to move the digital teeth around with the help of CAD/CAM (computer-aided-design and computer-aided-manufacturing) technology. The technology then maps out stages, which can range from six to forty, between current and desired positioning.

The clear plastic trays called aligners are typically worn for 20 hours every day, being removed for brushing, flossing and eating. The treatment period, which typically lasts one year, can vary based on complexity of the overall process.

The Invisalign system has the ability to offer a multitude of treatments and results such as bite correction, moving natural or crowned / veneered teeth, improving oral health and appearance for lifelong effects.

Numerous restorative and cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening, veneers and crowns have the ability to work with and compliment the Invisalign system by ensuring proper placement of the Invisalign aligners, preventing complications and oral health problems during treatment. Regular dental checkups are recommended during Invisalign treatment in order to help you stay on track to a great smile.
